World Cup Cricket at the St Lucia Cricket Grounds

St Lucia cricket stadium is called the Beausejour cricket grounds which will now be recognized world wide since it has been awarded the blue match package with four teams including England which is St Lucia's second largest contributor to tourist arrival on the Island.

St Lucia was one in eight countries chosen to host several of those matches. There were 51 matches featuring 16 world cup nations scheduled to begin in April 2007.

Beausejour Cricket Grounds St Lucia

All matches were held at the ultra-modern St Lucia Beausejour cricket ground built with top-notch infrastructure.

Being chosen as one of the venues to host one in two semi-final matches is an indication of the International cricket councils rating of the Beausejour cricket grounds.

Some of the other countries chosen are Guyana, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis and Grenada.

The Beausejour cricket grounds has been described as "the best grounds in the Caribbean" according to the west Indies captain Brian Charles Lara.

It has the capacity to seat over 10,000. Preparation work has already began in doubling the seating capacity of cricket grounds. With St Lucia as a venue, it is expected to hold extraordinary opportunities for the island.

The government of St Lucia offered incentives to investors who wanted to increase room capacity in time for 2007 Cricket world cup. The then tourism minister, Phillip J Pierre predicted that such a prestigious event would have done wonders for the tourism sector.

The package that St Lucia has won made Beausejour a hub for cricket world cup St Lucia 2007.

St Lucia cricket grounds is situated at an ideal location for the hosting of such an event, with most of the Island's infrastructure towards the north. Some of those include fitness centers, 18 hole golf course, tennis, swimming facilities, even some of the best beaches are in close proximity to the Beausejour cricket grounds.

Many People booked their hotels early to ensure that they got there at the Beausejour cricket grounds for 2007 world cup.
