Pigeon Island Beach

Pigeon Island beach is Located to the north of Gros Islet. I went to this beach on a regular basis because it gave me an opportunity to meet up with friends and even make some new ones.

Pigeon Island Beach

Today, the beach is not as lively as it used to be since the development of two large hotels on it. Those two hotels are The Landings St Lucia, a Rocks resort and Sandals Grand St Lucia formerly Hiat Regency hotel.

It can be easily found if you pass through the town of Gros Islet, drive straight down until you get to the end, then you make a right turn until you cross a bridge.

Another way to get to the beach is through Massade. When you get the Gros Islet gap, you continue straight ahead until you get to the Pigeon Island gap. After you drive in, you will notice that there is a hotel there. That hotel is The Landings St Lucia.

When you get there, you turn left and continue driving until you get to the beach.

Since the development of the Landings hotel, the beach is now divided in two sides. So when you get to the entrance of the Landings, you can also continue right to get to the other side of the beach or take the ferry to the other side located at the hotel. This side of the beach is closer to the Pigeon Island Park.

If you wish to learn some history of St Lucia, you can pay a small fee of US$2.00 to enter the park. You can still see canons from the wars and other ruins where St Lucia was fought over by the British and the French seven times each.

There is information placed at strategic points letting you know about particular areas and what took place there. Feel free to take as many pictures as you would like.

If you decide to stay on the Pigeon Island beach, outside of the park, then you can still have fun there or just relax. There are vending booths there making it easy to buy a snack or lunch just in case you get hungry.
