St Judes Hospital Fire in St Lucia
Citizens of the small Caribbean Island of St Lucia woke up to a fire at the St Judes Hospital located in Vieux Fort shortly after midnight Wednesday 9th September.
A security officer on duty at the time said that the fire started when and air condition unit got engulfed in flames but the investigators concluded that it was to early to determine what really caused the fire.
All efforts were made to save some patients that were being housed there by neighbors who risked their own lives to save them.
Three men is said to have died in that fire, with one of them dying on the way to the Victoria hospital in Castries.
The hospital was not completely destroyed because it was contained to only the surgical ward, operating rooms and maternity wing.
There were a little over a dozen injured patient who were transferred to Victoria Hospital and other clinics around the Island.
