Discover St Lucia Hiking Trails
I know you will find that going on one of St Lucia hiking trails, sound rather exciting to you. For those of you who like being physical but want to take a break from the gym. well I know it does to me.
My two favorite hiking experiences was a hike to the Soufriere rain forest and the other to the top Of Gros Piton. I am not sure if it is the fact that you feel like one with nature or the sense of feeling as if you are discovering things, but I really enjoy a nature hike.
There are several hiking trails in St Lucia; I mean you can find hiking trails in most if not every district in St Lucia. Although I have lived here all my life, I am still learning of new hiking trails from around the island.
There are several tours coordinated by the St Lucia National Trust and the St Lucia Forestry Department. On some of these St Lucia hiking trails, you will have the opportunity to see the national bird, a breath taking view of the tallest mountain in St Lucia, mount Gimie and the forestry reserves. Here are three of them:
(1) The central rain forest hiking trail starts at Des Cartiers and ends at the Edmund rain forest, which last for 4 hours and is 5miles long (8km).
(2) The Forestiere - Barre de L’isle hiking Trail. It last for 4 hours and is 6 miles (10km) long
(3) The Jungle hiking trail starts at the Barre de L’isle to the Edmund rain Forest. It is 10 miles (16km) lost and last for approximately 6 hours.
You may also be interested in the Castries Heritage tour organized by the National Trust where you take a walk through the city of Castries to learn about the history of the city and see important sites.
Are you interested in other Hiking trails? There are several groups in some communities around the island that provides you with the opportunity to explore their hiking trails and learn about their community as well.
There are other easy to moderate hiking trails for those of you who want to explore but cannot keep up with the long walks. Therefore, you do not have to feel left out if you are not up for long strenuous walks.
