What Is St Lucia Jazz?

The St Lucia Jazz festival is now simply referred to as St Lucia Jazz. This festival is held every year in May and attracts people from all over the Caribbean, the U.S. and the U.K. For two whole weeks, the entire country pulsates with rhythm. The music is great, the atmosphere is superb, and the fun is immense.

Personally, I must admit that this is one of my favorite times of the year. If you need to find me, I'll be where the action is. No other festival brings so many visitors to the island.

These venues include the Pigeon Island National Landmark, La Place Carenage, the Derek Walcott Square, Fond d'Or Nature Heritage Park, Balenbouche Estate and hotels island wide.

The music is not limited to Jazz; there is a wide variety to choose from. If you're like me, you'll enjoy everything.

Many big names have played at the festival. They include Joe Sample, Andy Narell, Bobby Watson, Najee, Regina Bell, Arturo Tapin, George Duke, Nestor Torres, Carl Gustave, Lalah Hathaway, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Len "Boogsie" Sharp, Alex Bugnon, Al Jarreau, Ronald Boo Hinkson, Ashford Simpson, the Nerelle Brothers, Nicholas Branker, Chuck Mangione, Luther Francois, Ravi Coltrane, Olu Dara, and the Emmerson Nurse Quartet.

The St Lucia Jazz Festival is however, not only about good music, you also get to sample local cuisine as well. Many of the concerts and events are specially chosen to blend with the natural surroundings. They are held in the most beautiful venues on the island. You will surely be thrilled by the atmosphere created by St Lucia's mountains and lovely beaches.
