St Lucia mini bus is by far the cheapest way to travel in and around St Lucia. That is why it is the most popular form of transportation among the locals.
Many St Lucians do not own their on vehicle so they travel from place to place by mini bus.
In everything good or cheap, you may find several disadvantages and this method of transportation has its fare share. Some of those disadvantages are the inconvenience of carrying large goods from one place to the next.
Most of those mini buses hold approximately twelve to fifteen passengers, making it almost impossible to carry any other goods except small items that you can hold in your hands or in hand bags.
One other disadvantage is the fact that all the mini buses have special routes. Those special routes are usually on the main road so if you need to go on a sub road, you would need to either walk or take a taxi to complete your journey.
Some mini bus drivers would empathize with you and charge an extra fee if they have to go off route, but you would first have to speak with the driver before you enter the bus. He is not obliged to going off route with you and it is only doing so at his discretion.
You would also need to know where you are going. If you are not sure, you can always tell the driver where you are going to, so you do not end up passing your destination. It may sound strange to you, but I have seen this happen several times.
St Lucia mini bus prices vary from 1.50 - 10 EC$ depending on where you are going. All short stops are priced at EC$1.50.
