St Lucia Pitons
The Majestic Twin Peaks

The St Lucia Pitons is better known in St Lucia as Petit piton and Gros Piton. Those majestic twin picks are truly one of a kind and can only be found on the island of St Lucia. Petit piton is located in Soufriere soaring at a height of (750m) from the sea while Gros Piton is located in Choiseul reaching a height of (797m).

On your way to the town of Soufriere, it almost looks like they are stuck together and that they are both located in Soufriere. If you believe that after you see it, I don't blame you because it really does look that way. That is one of the things about them that make it so unique.

St Lucia Pitons

The uniqueness of those majestic twin peaks can be made certain in the fact that it has been awarded world heritage site status. This awarded was presented to The Pitons Management Area on June 30, 2004 at the 28th session of the World Heritage Committee meeting in China.

St Lucians are really proud of those pitons and you can also see that in the names given to things or places. Some of those things are piton shandy, piton malt, piton bear, and piton falls just to name a few.

Speaking of Piton beer, it may be one of those things you may want to try when you get here. It has been given high praises by both visitors and locals but my favorite is the piton malt and the piton shandy.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can take a hike on the Gros Piton hiking trail. This Hiking trail is not for everyone but only if you are physically fit or if you are looking for a challenge because it requires allot of energy from you.

Don't forget to walk with your camera to take those lovely St Lucia Pitons photos.

Tip: If you want the best angle for taking your photo of the pitons, you must be either on a boat or on your way to Anse Chastanet hotel.
