The taste of food varies from country to country and you can believe me when I say that St Lucia has some of the most unique and delicious tasting dishes that you can find any where in the Caribbean, or even the world if I dare.

Not only do these dishes taste great, but you’ll find them very easy to prepare.

There are many special foods found in St Lucia. Our local folks, especially those who leave in the country side like eating foods like one pot, breadfruit and sardines, ground provisions like dasheen, plantain, green figs (banana), yellow yams, banja and so much more, not to mention the national dish of St Lucia, green figs and salt fish.

Those foods are used in restaurants all over St Lucia. The Dasheen restaurant got its name from one of those foods and has found so many innovative ways to prepare dasheen and has gotten famous for doing so.

What kind of recipes are you looking for? Whether it’s main dishes, appetizers, entrées or deserts, you won’t fall short of being satisfied. I can still remember the days of growing up, and every Sunday, enjoying a few hot bakes and cocoa tea with salt fish and cucumber salad for breakfast.

If taste is everything, then this is it. This is one of the many St Lucia recipes that are being used in hotel restaurants especially at Jounén Kwéyol and Assou Square.

For me eating those things on a Sunday morning was a special way of spending time with my mom and family. We would all help to prepare these goodies and sit and talk with each other while we enjoyed them. These St Lucia recipes are especially good to share with your kids and a good way to spend quality time with them.

Some of these recipes are so innovative and flexible that you can make them your very own by adding something to them that only you know; something like a secret ingredient that someday you can pass on to your kids.

If you like spicy foods then there are also many St Lucia recipes just for you. Our fish, chicken and other dishes can be made either spicy or plain to cater for all your family’s tastes.

These dishes will add flavor and diversity to your home and if you’re having a dinner party, cook out, branch or just a small gathering, get yourself some good recipes from St Lucia and become the talk of the neighborhood and the envy of all your family and friends.
