St Lucia Travel and Safety Tips
Guidelines To Keep You Out Of Harms Way.

I saw it fitting to give you some St Lucia travel and safety tips as many tourist come to St Lucia thinking that it is Crime free. I believe if you know what you are up against, you can avoid yourself from falling prey to any crime. You can really enjoy your time spent in St Lucia without having to worry about such crimes.

I have lived in St Lucia all my life and I have never been a victim of any crime because of certain guidelines that I follow which always keep me safe and out of harm’s way.

With that said it is good to note that there has been crimes committed against visitors in St Lucia. Any crimes committed against our visitors are treated very seriously and is even considered an act of terrorism according to our laws.

St Lucia is advertised as an Island paradise or one of the most beautiful places in the world. While this is true, that does not rid it of any crimes even though the crime level is low.

Most St Lucians are very friendly and if you greet them, you will most likely get a favorable response. As a matter of fact, they may do so before you do. This is done by a verbal greeting or jamming. This is done by the knocking of fist together.

There are also a few guys who do not want to work and like feeding on the hard labor of others by attempting to rob them, hence the reason I am providing you with some St Lucia travel and safety tips. If you follow a few guidelines, you will be out of harm’s way.

Here are a few guidelines for your general safety in St Lucia.

(1) Always remember that St Lucia is not crime free and you are responsible for your own general safety in St Lucia.

(2) Do not go to secluded areas of St Lucia that compromise your safety unless you are in supervised tours with a local tour operator.

(3) Do not advertise that you are carrying money on your person. One thing I would advise is to walk with less cash and use more credit cards because most businesses accept credit cards in St Lucia.

(4) Use common sense. If somewhere appears to be dangerous, don’t wait to see what happens.

(5) Do not walk in dark alleys alone. Always have your means of transportation close by for when you are about to leave to go back to your hotel.

(6) Keep your jewelry and other valuable assets in a safe at your hotel when you are venturing on adventure tours and other such expeditions as they may make you prime targets.

(7) If you become a victim of a robbery, do not hesitate or argue with your attacker as this may be detrimental to you.

(8) Report any crime to the police by dialing 999 or to the hotel at which you are staying.

(9) Take travel insurance before you travel to any country.

I hope that these St Lucia travel and safety tips will help you to be aware of your surroundings and most importantly, help you take precautionary measures to keep you out of harm’s way and your safety in St Lucia is never compromise. I hope you have a wonderful vacation here.
